At the convergence of May Day, Father’s Day, and Ascension Thursday, Munich holds its annual celebration throughout the city – the largest in Marienplatz and Viktualienmarket. Being our first year in Munich, we decided to check it out and left a little let down after such wonderful celebrations throughout the year. Any resemblance to a Bavarian holiday was well lost with the Indian troop performing group, the line up of political booths, and the rock bands on Marienplatz. The redeeming factor of the celebration was all the activities for kids – woodworking stalls, art classes, and of course face painting.Thursday, May 1, 2008
